Custom Folded Hang Tags: Panel Map and Opening Approval Guide

For custom folded hang tags, approve what the buyer sees when the tag is closed and what becomes visible after it opens. A flat artwork file can look correct while the intended front cover, inside message or attachment position is still unclear. A numbered panel map gives the designer, printer and garment team a shared reference.

This guide focuses on the opening sequence of a folded card. Use the hang tag printing approval guide for stock and finishes, and the assembly and packing guide for the delivery format.

Planning your order? Explore custom printed hang tags, or request a folded hang tag quote. Send the panel map, opening direction, attachment position, artwork revision and quantity per version. Ask for the proposed stock, folding and assembly scope to be confirmed together.

State the flat size and closed size separately

Provide a drawing of the requested card before folding, with the fold line marked and dimensions in a named unit. Add the intended closed dimensions and opening direction. Ask the supplier to confirm the construction rather than assuming that every design uses equal panels or the same fold allowance.

Identify the proposed stock and any printing or finishing on each face. A previous flat-card approval does not establish that a new folded construction is ready for production. Ask for any required artwork or construction adjustment to be shown before sampling.

Number the panels before placing the artwork

Use panel IDs that mean the same thing in the flat drawing and the folded reference. The following is a suggested naming system for a simple two-panel concept; it is not a standard template or a fixed CanKun product specification.

Panel ID Buyer assigns Check on the folded reference
Outer front Main brand presentation Correct cover faces outward when closed
Outer back Secondary information or retail data Reading direction matches the intended handling
Inside left Approved content and artwork revision Correct position after opening
Inside right Approved content and artwork revision Correct sequence beside the other inside panel

Mark the top edge of each panel. Do not approve four disconnected image files without identifying which belong on the same side of the sheet. Ask for a proof that shows the complete flat layout and an identifiable folded mockup or sample.

Check the hole and string in the closed position

Specify whether the hole passes through one panel or the closed assembly, and identify the intended attachment. Confirm the proposed arrangement with the supplier on the actual construction. A hole that looks clear on the flat file may interact differently with the opposite panel when the card is closed.

Handle the assembled sample in the intended sequence: closed presentation, opening, reading the inside and closing again. Check whether the attachment covers content or restricts the opening the buyer expects. Record the decision against the panel map rather than assuming that “string included” defines the arrangement.

Release the fold, artwork and supply format together

Keep the flat drawing, panel artwork revision and folded sample ID in one approval record. Review the fold position, panel orientation and appearance against that reference. If a particular repeated-opening performance is required, agree a test and evidence separately; a mockup does not establish a durability result.

Confirm whether the tags are delivered flat, folded or assembled with an attachment. State the agreed counting unit and identify each artwork version in the packing instructions. A proposed change to stock, fold, artwork or hole position should trigger a named review before the old reference is replaced.

CanKun custom orders start at MOQ 100, with final quantities confirmed against the specification and artwork versions. Samples are free; shipping and special requirements are confirmed separately. Sampling usually takes 3 days after artwork and specification review. Bulk production usually takes 7–15 days after physical sample and specification approval, with shipping time separate. Wu Jess responds within 24 hours.
