Iron-On Woven Labels: Attachment Trial Before Bulk Ordering

Before buying iron-on woven labels, ask the supplier to confirm that the proposed backing is available for the label construction, then test the attachment on the actual product fabric. An attractive loose label does not establish how the installed combination will behave.

For an iron-on versus sew-on decision, compare the buyer’s attachment process as well as the label price. This worksheet records a trial and release decision. It does not provide universal pressing settings or claim that either attachment method works on every fabric.

Specify the attachment route in the quotation

State whether the requested finished label is supplied for sewing or with a proposed heat-applied backing. Ask the supplier to identify the backing and any included preparation. A woven face construction alone does not define the attachment method.

Confirm the label’s flat dimensions, fold or cut arrangement and installed position using the woven label specification guide. If two options are quoted, keep artwork and visible dimensions comparable and identify every construction difference.

Use the real fabric, finish and application equipment

Give the supplier an identifiable fabric or product reference, including any known coating, texture or finishing relevant to attachment. Ask the responsible garment team whether the proposed application process is suitable. A trial on a convenient scrap of another fabric does not approve the intended production combination.

Obtain application instructions for the actual backing from the responsible supplier. Have the operator record the equipment and conditions used in the trial. Do not copy a temperature, time or pressure from an unrelated label listing. Keep the label and fabric references with the trial record so the chosen result can be reproduced and reviewed.

Review the installed label, then define the required performance check

Inspect the installed sample at the intended product position. Record visible lifting, alignment, changes to the fabric surface and any issue at the label edges. For a sewn alternative, inspect the proposed stitch location and whether the attachment conceals artwork or alters the intended presentation.

Separate that first appearance review from any required laundering, handling or service-performance evaluation. Agree the relevant method and acceptance criteria with the buyer and supplier; record which installed construction was evaluated. A successful first attachment is not an unlimited wash-durability guarantee.

Make the purchasing decision from the whole operation

Compare label cost, application work, equipment needs, checks and any approved rework route. Record who applies the labels and who releases the installed result. A lower loose-label price may cover a different amount of work, so ask the quotation to state what remains for the garment factory to do.

If the heat-applied option is not confirmed for the intended combination, keep it unapproved and discuss an available alternative. Where the garment team proposes adding stitching, treat that as its own construction for review. Do not assume that an extra operation automatically corrects an untested backing or fabric combination.

Keep the approved attachment reference for reorders

Retain the backing or sewing description, fabric reference, artwork revision and installed sample ID together. A change to garment fabric, finish, backing or application location requires a review of the affected attachment decision. Keep logo and text checks in the woven label sample review alongside the installation record.
