Custom Hang Tags with String: Loose or Preassembled Packing?

When buying custom hang tags with string, confirm whether the quotation covers loose cards and strings, strung cards, or complete assembled sets. That choice determines what your garment finishing team receives, how it counts the order and which assembly tasks still remain.

Use this guide to agree the delivery format and packing instructions. Prepare the card stock and artwork with our hang tag printing approval guide; review the hole and card arrangement in our real hang tag assembly case.

Planning your order? Explore custom hang tags with string, or request a tag and assembly quotation. State whether you need loose components, strung cards or complete sets. Include the component pairing, quantity unit, quantities by version and packing requirements.

Define the assembly level in the quotation

Requested formatDescribe what arrivesConfirm with your finishing team
Loose componentsSeparate cards and strings, identified by version and componentWho pairs the cards, threads the string and checks the completed set?
Strung cardA named card with the agreed string attachedDoes another information card still need to be added?
Complete assembled setThe approved card layers and attachment supplied as one setWhat remains to attach the set to the garment?

Agree the proposed option with the supplier before comparing prices. “String included” can describe an accessory supplied separately; write the actual assembly requirement into the order. Confirm whether a retail fastening, knot or other attachment is part of the supplied set or a task for the garment team.

Count complete sets and individual components separately

A two-card hang tag contains more than one printed item. For an illustrative order of 500 complete sets, each with two cards and one string, the component requirement is 1,000 cards and 500 strings. This is a counting example, not a customer order or a quoted production allowance.

Name the quantity unit on every quotation line: individual card, string or complete set. If a front brand card is shared across several back-card versions, record the pairing for each version rather than supplying only the combined card total. Agree any extra pieces and their treatment separately.

Match the delivery format to the finishing workflow

Ask the receiving and garment teams to describe their actual process. Loose components may suit a workflow that pairs variable cards close to garment packing; assembled sets may suit a workflow that uses an approved pairing before receipt. Neither option removes the need to identify the right tag version for each garment.

  • Assembly location: identify the team or supplier responsible for threading, pairing and final attachment.
  • Version control: state which brand card, information card and string belong together.
  • Handling: review an assembled physical reference and the proposed bundle arrangement before release.
  • Quotation scope: compare the same component count, assembly level, packing requirement and destination.

Do not assume one option is always faster or cheaper. Ask for the actual quotation and confirmed schedule, including work that remains at the garment factory.

Specify packing by version and assembly level

Give each bag, bundle or carton an agreed identifier that maps to the order line. Record the artwork revision, component or set description, quantity unit and quantity. Keep different artwork versions identifiable even where the cards look similar at a glance.

For loose supplies, specify how matching cards and strings are grouped or separated. For assembled supplies, agree how the completed set is presented for counting and handling. Ask the supplier to confirm the packing method against the actual tag construction; this guide does not prescribe one bundle size for every order.

Check a packing reference before bulk release

  1. Compare the proposed assembled tag with the approved card, hole and string references.
  2. Confirm which stage of attachment has been completed and which is still required.
  3. Match each packing identifier to its artwork version and quantity unit.
  4. Agree the receiving count and inspection method, including how a pairing or quantity discrepancy is recorded.
  5. Keep the approved assembly and packing instructions with the production specification.

A photograph explains the arrangement; use the physical reference to assess handling and attachment. Any strength or other performance requirement needs an agreed check and its actual result.

CanKun’s starting MOQ is 100 pieces, with the final minimum confirmed for the specification and version quantities. Samples are free; shipping and special requirements are confirmed separately.
