Woven Label Edges: Cut Method and Exposed-Edge Approval Guide

How do you choose the edges for a woven label? Mark which edges are exposed, folded or inserted into a seam, then review the proposed material, cut and finishing on a sample at the intended attachment position. A cutting-method name alone does not establish softness or durability. Record edge-specific approval separately from any required performance evidence.

This guide creates an edge-by-edge approval record. It does not rank cutting methods or promise that a named process always produces a softer result. Ask the manufacturer to confirm the proposed material, cutting and finishing route for the actual label.

Next steps: compare woven-label sizes and folds, review physical colour approval, or request an edge and attachment review.

Name every edge and its installed position

Mark edges E1 through E4 on the flat drawing, adding more identifiers if the shape needs them. Identify which edges remain exposed, which are folded and which enter a seam. State the intended presentation face and viewing direction. An edge hidden in one installation may become exposed when the label is attached differently.

Retain the dimensions and fold drawing in the woven label specification guide. Add an edge schedule beside that drawing instead of replacing it with a general request for “soft edges”.

Edge record Buyer describes Sample review
E1/E2/E3/E4 Exposed, folded or inserted; product position Actual installed edge matches the drawing
Proposed process Supplier-confirmed cut and finishing description Review that exact construction
Appearance Any agreed colour, outline or visible-edge requirement Record visible differences against the reference
Handling Intended contact or access at the product location Buyer reviews the placed sample; open issues stay pending

Ask what the quoted cutting description includes

For woven label cutting options, ask the supplier to name the proposed method and explain which edges receive that treatment. Confirm whether cutting, folding and any other finishing are included in the quoted finished piece. If an alternative is proposed, have the supplier identify the changed material or construction rather than presenting two different samples as the same specification.

Do not copy machine settings from a search result into the purchase order. This guide does not supply a laser setting, ultrasonic setting or material-specific production recipe. Where the buyer has an edge-performance requirement, agree the review or test method and acceptance criteria with the relevant teams before production.

Compare samples at the actual attachment location

Use identifiable samples with the proposed label dimensions and artwork. Have the garment or accessory team place them at the intended location. Examine exposed corners, folded ends and seam insertion separately. Record what the reviewer sees or feels and where the observation occurs; a photograph alone cannot establish a tactile result.

If two options are being compared, record differences in material, dimensions, cut method and fold so the comparison is interpretable. Keep a chosen physical reference and its edge schedule together. Approval should identify the actual construction, not just an enlarged photograph or a generic description such as “premium quality”.

Keep appearance, handling and durability decisions separate

An installed sample can reveal an unwanted exposed edge or appearance issue before bulk release. It does not by itself certify skin suitability, long-term fraying resistance or performance after laundering. If the product has such requirements, request evidence that matches the material, construction and intended use.

When a sample needs correction, identify the affected edge IDs and ask which production element will change. Review the revised sample before replacing the approved reference. Keep the logo and small-text sample review as a separate check so an edge adjustment does not accidentally conceal approved artwork.

Explore custom woven labels and request a woven label edge review. Send the marked drawing and application reference so available options and sample scope can be confirmed.

CanKun accepts custom orders with MOQ starting at 100, with the final minimum confirmed for the specification and versions. Samples are free; shipping and special requirements are confirmed separately. Sampling is usually 3 days after artwork and specification review. Bulk production is usually 7–15 days after physical sample and specification approval; shipping time is separate. Wu Jess responds within 24 hours.
